Peer Leader Responsibilities
Being a Peer leader is a fun learning experience that helps you grow as a student leader and role model. You join a community of talented Computer Science students and faculty with a plethora of resources at your disposal. Not only is this an opportunity to widen your network in the computer science community, it is also perfect for honing in on the basics that make you a skilled programmer. That being said, a peer leader also comes with responsibilities. This site will bring you a clearer understanding of what it takes and means to be a Computer Science peer leader at NEIU. All peer leaders are to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times. A peer leader is a representative for the Computer Science department, thus being held to a higher standard. It is asked that you show respect for the faculty and students by maintaining your responsibilities. There are four main responsibilities that include a workshop that is held weekly at a designated time. Secondly, an office hour for students to ask questions they may have encountered during the lesson. Thirdly, a weekly meeting with the other peer leaders and the program director. Lastly, you must work with your professor to discuss the lesson plan for the week, turn in attendance, and any other pertinent topics that may arise can be overviewed during this communication with the professor.
