Qualifications
To facilitate the process of recruiting and maintaining our Computer Science Peer leaders, our Peer leader program is now online. We welcome all. We welcome those who feel comfortable and confident in their programming ability. One does not need to be an expert, we welcome those who seek to guide, those who seek to better themselves, and those who seek to experience something new. NEIU is called home by a diverse student population, having the capacity to work collaboratively with your peers will benefit them and you the peer leader, as learning together will only help further our goals.
Academics
- STEM undergraduate or graduate student.
- Completed CS-200 with an A or B in the course and received a referral from a CS instructor for the CS 200 peer leader program, or completed CS 207 with an A or B in the course and a referral from a CS instructor for the CS 207 peer leader program.
- Have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Characteristics
- Have a high level of enthusiasm and strong leadership skills.
- Have the capacity to exert leadership, provide programming guidance, and represent the interests of the peer leader program in a programming classroom context.
- Have the capacity to work and participate effectively in team contexts with instructors, faculty, the Peer Leader Program Coordinator, and other peer leaders.
- Have the capacity to work collaboratively with diverse student populations.
